1.What "sell" and "share" mean here
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, "sale" is broader than exchanging data for money — it covers disclosing personal information to a third party for other valuable consideration. "Sharing" means disclosing personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising, which is advertising targeted to you based on your activity across different sites and services.
ALIST does not sell personal information, and does not disclose it to advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run third-party advertising pixels or advertising cookies on our site, and we never sell or share sensitive personal information, government identification, payment details, or data from our fit and virtual try-on tools. The opt-out below is available anyway, and it binds us if we ever add advertising technology.
We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
2.How to opt out
1. Use an opt-out preference signal (recommended)
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC). GPC is a setting in some browsers and extensions that tells every site you visit not to sell or share your personal information. When we detect it, we apply the opt-out to that browser automatically — no form to fill in. Because the signal is stored per browser and per device, enable it everywhere you browse.
2. Record it here
Use the button above. If you are signed in when you do, we save the opt-out to your ALIST account so it applies on every device you sign in on; otherwise it is stored on this browser. We never require you to create an account or verify your identity in order to opt out.
3. Send us a request
Email camilla@alistarchive.com with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share", or use our contact form. Tell us the email address you use with ALIST and we will apply the opt-out to your account for you.
4. Control cookies in your browser
You can block or delete advertising cookies through your browser settings, and you can reset or limit the advertising identifier on your mobile device. Our Cookie Policy explains where those settings are and lists industry opt-out tools.
5. Use an authorized agent
You may designate an agent to submit an opt-out on your behalf. We may ask the agent to demonstrate that you gave them written permission.
3.Limit the use of my sensitive personal information
California residents may direct businesses to limit the use of sensitive personal information to purposes permitted by law. We already limit our use of sensitive personal information — such as consignor government identification, tax identifiers, and account credentials — to verifying identity, preventing fraud, meeting tax and sanctions obligations, securing accounts, and providing the services you request. We do not use or disclose it to infer characteristics about you, and we do not use it for advertising.
If you would still like to submit a limitation request, email camilla@alistarchive.com with the subject "Limit sensitive information".
4.Targeted advertising opt-out in other states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Rhode Island, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Florida — have the right to opt out of targeted advertising and, where applicable, of the sale of personal information and of profiling with legal or similarly significant effects. The methods above satisfy those requests too, and we apply them regardless of the state you live in.
5.What happens after you opt out
- We record the opt-out against your browser and, where you give us your email address, against your account, so that it applies from the moment any advertising technology is introduced.
- We process opt-outs promptly, and no later than 15 business days after we receive them, including passing the request on to partners who received your information in the preceding 30 days where required.
- You may still see advertising from us, but it will not be based on your activity across other sites and services.
- We keep a record that you opted out so we can continue to honor it. That record is used only for that purpose.
- An opt-out recorded while you are signed in follows your account across devices. One recorded without signing in is tied to that browser and is cleared if you delete your site data.
- We will not ask you to opt back in for at least 45 days after you opt out, and we will never charge you a different price or provide a different level of service because you exercised this right.
